Shakyamuni Buddha was born as a crown prince of the great Shakya Kingdom. He was groomed to be the King. However, when he was 29years old, he learned about the deep suffering of humankind and was taken by surprise. He then left his palace life and his family behind and searched for the cause of suffering and the means to overcome it. After several years of deep meditation and self-reflection, he found his goal and became an enlightened “Buddha” under the tree of Bodh Gaya in India, which is now a holy pilgrimage site.
