Guru Rinpoche, Hand-Carved Lotus-Born Master Golden Sculpture
Guru Padmasambhava, famously known as Guru Rinpoche, was believed to be miraculously born from the Lotus. He was the precious Guru and a powerful Tantric Buddhist Master. This masterpiece was hand-carved in our studio by master artisans, the artistry of sculpting is a generational occupation and a sacred artform passed down by Nepali ancestors. In this magnificent Sculpture of Guru Padmasambhava, we can see outstanding craftsmanship, from the small intricate details to the perfect proportion of sculpting and acrylic paint to his heavily crafted robe, jewellery, and hat bring this statue to life.
The Sculpture is gilded in pure 24k Gold; he is attired in a majestic robe and a monastic hat. He is seated in the posture of a king on a lotus. In his right hand, he holds a five-pronged Vajra (Tibetan-Dorje) and a (kapala) skull vase containing immorality, brimming with Amrit and containing the vase of longevity. In the curve of his arm, rests the Khatvang trident. His hat is red with a five-petal lotus crown on his head, and his eyes are wide open with the piercing gaze.
Guru Rinpoche was invited to Tibet in the eighth century to propagate Buddhism. He was a powerful tantric master and regarded as a “Precious Guru” he subdued many evils, harmful spirits, and forces that were obstructing the spread of the teaching of Buddha and Buddhism in Tibet. He then defeated the evil spirits with his miraculous power and went on to teach many disciples who later followed in his footsteps of being perfect tantric masters of Buddhism. It is said that he had twenty-five great disciples who were instrumental figures in preserving the sacred teachings.
