Chenrezig Avalokiteshvara Statue, Compassion Deity

This beautiful Chenrezig Avalokiteshvara, also Compassion Deity Statue, is hand-carved by Nepali artists in copper and gilded in 24K gold in Kathmandu. At his heart, his first two hands squeezed together. His promise to Buddhas and Bodhisattvas is to free all sentient beings from sorrow. His compassionate Bodhichitta is symbolized by his hands, which carry a wish-fulfilling diamond. His other right hand clutches a crystal rosary, representing his capacity to free beings from Samsara.

In his left hand, the stem of a Utpala flower represents his constant and loving Bodhichitta motivation. His empathetic understanding spans the past, present, and future.

Chenrezig is the Compassionate Protector of Tibet and the Bodhisattva of Compassion. Tibetan Buddhists see His Holiness, the Dalai Lama, as the earthly manifestation of this compassionate Buddha. Chenrezig tells us that the way to end our suffering is not to run away from our difficulties but to work through them with compassion for ourselves and others and embrace all sentient creatures with our heart's mercy and love.
