In the statue, Shakyamuni Buddha can be seen seated atop a moon disc lotus with an alms bowl over his lap on his left hand with his characteristic calm and peaceful appearance. With his left hand, he makes the "Bhumisparsa Mudra," which symbolizes one of the most significant events in the Buddha's life—the moment the Buddha attained enlightenment and declared the earth to be his witness.
