Description

Auspicious Meditational Dorje Sempa Sculpture

We have exquisitely hand-carved the statue of Dorje Sempa, also known as Vajrasattva, in a traditional Himalayan Art of Nepal. We are the artist of Kathmandu Valley whose artisan in making ancient Vajrayana statues has passed through generations. In this magnificent art, we have mesmerizingly depicted a deity atop a moon disc lotus throne with a serene expression. It took more than a month for us to sculpt the statue since we have meticulously hand-carved it a pure copper body and gilded it with genuine 24k gold. The vibrant halo and nimbus illuminate his face and engulf his presence, which we have embellished with precious turquoise and corals. We assure you that the materials used in this artwork are of high quality and will last for many years.

Vajrasatva is typically regarded as the second patriarch in the Shingon Buddhist lineage, the first being Vairocana Buddha. According to Kukai's writings in Record of the Dharma Transmission, Nagarjuna encountered Vajrasatva in an iron tower in southern India, based on Amoghavajra's testimony. As recounted in the Mahavairocana Sutra, Vajrasatva inducted Nagarjuna into the abhiseka ceremony and entrusted him with the esoteric teachings he had gained from Vairocana Buddha. Kukai doesn't go into detail on Vajrasatva or his beginnings.
