Seated Mini Shakyamuni Buddha Statue

This is a statue of a mini Shakyamuni Buddha seated on a moon disc lotus seat with crossed legs. We hand-carved it with a copper body and coated it with pure 24k gold in traditional Himalayan art. A gold robe extends across the shoulders and down the body and legs. The crown above his tranquil face is exquisitely crafted from valuable stones and turquoise. This magnificent Buddha statue was sculpted by the artist of Kathmandu valley, whose artisan has passed from generation to generation.

Siddhartha Gautama was born as the crown prince of the mighty Shakya Kingdom and nurtured to be a king in line with his royal father's aspirations. He abandoned his palace life and gave up his magnificent robes and gold to uncover the reasons for this anguish and the methods to alleviate it. After nearly six years of study, self-deprivation, and severe concentration, he achieved his aim. He had attained enlightenment (a Buddha). He claimed to have then proceeded to a deer park in Sarnath (Benares), India, on the outskirts of Varanasi.
