This week we are honored to feature a remarkable piece of Himalayan Buddhist artistry the Dipankara Buddha Handcrafted Meditation Sculpture. Designed by Gyan Kaji Shakya, masterfully carved by Madan Mani Shakya, with a distinguished Patina by The Heritage Nepal, and completed in 2024, this statue embodies spiritual depth, artistic excellence, and cultural heritage.
We selected this Dipankara Buddha as our Statue of the Week because it beautifully marries exquisite craftsmanship with profound iconographic meaning a combination that makes it not just a work of art, but a source of inspiration and reflection for practitioners and collectors alike.

Dipankara Buddha is one of the earliest Buddhas in Buddhist tradition often called the “Lamp-Bearer” or “Light Maker,” symbolizing the illumination of wisdom that dispels ignorance.

This Dipankara Buddha sculpture is masterfully created using a combination of 24K gold gilding, a copper body, acrylic paintings, and hand-carved gemstones, reflecting the highest standards of traditional Himalayan craftsmanship. The copper body provides strength and allows for intricate detailing, while the 24K gold gilding symbolizes enlightenment, purity, and the radiant wisdom of the Buddha. Fine acrylic paintings are carefully applied by hand to enhance facial features, ornaments, and symbolic details, adding depth and vibrancy to the overall form. Selected gemstones, individually hand-carved and precisely set, enrich the sculpture both visually and symbolically, representing spiritual qualities such as wisdom, compassion, and protection.
