Attributes of Guru Rinpoche
Khatvanga (Trident)
A ritual staff, which is resting on his arm
represents his beautiful consort. The three severed heads (Dry, Steal, and
Fresh) symbolize Dharmakaya, Sambhogakaya, and Nirmanakaya. The vessel is
filled with Bodhicitta nectar, and the Ribbon represents the teaching of the
mudra turns into wisdom.
Vajra (Dorje)
In his right hand, he holds a five-pronged
Vajra. Pointing out the demonic forces by performing enlightened activities to
destroy harmful energy.
Kapala (Skull – Vase)
In his left hand, he holds Kapala
containing a long-life vase. Representing transmission of knowledge to his
disciples to guide them to great accomplishments.
