This handmade statue of Buddha Amitabha stands 8.3 inches tall and 6.1 inches wide at the base, weighing 1.46 kg. Expertly crafted from copper with 24K gold gilding and detailed acrylic paintings, it showcases the refined artistry of skilled Nepali artisans. In this depiction, Buddha Amitabha is seated in padmasana (lotus posture) upon a double lotus base, symbolizing the blossoming of spiritual realization rising above worldly attachments. His hands rest in dhayana mdura (gesture of meditation), gently holding an alms bowl that signifies detachment from material desires and the serene acceptance of the Dharma. The elongated earlobes symbolize his renunciation of princely life and deep spiritual awareness, while his flowing monastic robes represent simplicity, purity, and the transcendence of ego. Unlike Shakyamuni Buddha, who lived as a historical figure in India, Amitabha is considered a transcendental or cosmic Buddha, presiding over the Western Pure Land (Sukhavati), a realm of bliss and enlightenment.
