Amitayus, often known as the Buddha of Boundless Life, is a highly revered deity in Tibetan Buddhism. He is primarily associated with longevity, good health, and the accumulation of merit. Iconographically, he is typically shown holding a vase containing the nectar of immortality (amrita), symbolising his ability to bestow long life and protect against untimely death. His practice is central to many Mahayana traditions for extending one's lifespan to facilitate spiritual development and benefit all sentient beings.
