The statue has been meticulously 24carat gold gilded for its bright sheen. The lord amitayus is depicted in a dhyana mudra, holding a chebum, where legend says the nectar of immortality resides. The face of the deity has been painted with gold, and some parts like eyes, mouth, and hair have been painted with acrylic paintings. A buddha is said to have three bodies in the Mahayana Buddhist tradition: a form body (nirmanakaya), an apparitional body (sambhogakaya), and an ultimate truth body (sambhogakaya) (dharmakaya).
