Shakyamuni Buddha is depicted sitting in the lotus pose (padmasana), indicating his steady concentration and mastery over the distractions of the material world. His right hand stretched toward the earth in bhumisparsha mudra represents his moment of enlightenment, inviting the earth to witness his waking. The left hand, lying gently in his lap in dhyana mudra, holding an alms bowl, depicts the profound state of meditation and mindfulness that leads to insight and clarity.

Chenrezig, the embodiment of boundless compassion, is depicted with four arms symbolizing his infinite love and enlightened qualities. He holds a crystal mala in his upper right hand, representing the ceaseless cycle of saṃsāra and the transformative power of prayerful recitation. His upper left hand holds the lotus flower, a sign of purity and spiritual awakening that rises unstained from the muddy waters of worldly existence. The lotus also signifies the teachings (dharma) that bloom from the impurities of ignorance and attachment. The lower hands come together in Anjali Mudra at his heart, a gesture of reverence that unites wisdom and compassionate action.

In its iconography, Guru Rinpoche is depicted in a regal posture, seated on a lotus base, holding a vajra in the right hand and a vase of immortality, accompanied by a kapala (skull cup) in the left hand, symbolizing wisdom and the nectar of immortality. A khatvanga trident rests on his shoulders, representing his mastery over the tantric path and the union of method and wisdom. This depiction embodies his enlightened power, protective energy, and compassionate guidance for practitioners.
