Description

Handcrafted Chakrasamvara Sculpture | Oxidized Copper with Refined Acrylic Painting

Handcrafted Chakrasamvara Sculpture measures 7.7”/19.5cm in height with a 5.9”/15cm base and weighs 1.2 kg. Crafted by Nepalese artisans, the oxidized copper body displays a deep-toned finish that lends visual depth to the metalwork, with acrylic painting introducing carefully defined color accents. The relationship between the darker copper surface and painted details gives the composition a distinctive character, reflecting Nepal’s tradition of Himalayan sacred sculpture. Honoring a central meditation deity of Vajrayana Buddhism, this artwork represents the union of wisdom and compassion and the transformation of ordinary experience into the path of awakening, offering a meaningful presence within a dedicated practice space.

Chakrasamvara is depicted in a dynamic yab-yum posture with his consort held closely in embrace, symbolizing the union of method and wisdom. The central figure has a fierce expression, three eyes, a crown of skulls, and richly detailed ornaments. His multiple arms extend outward, holding various tantric implements, while the crossed hands at the center embrace the consort. The consort raises her arms and holds ritual attributes, with her body closely entwined with his. Both figures are surrounded by flowing scarves, intricate ornaments, and a large flaming aureole. Their dynamic legs extend outward in a powerful dancing posture, standing upon subdued figures that symbolize the overcoming of obstacles and delusion. The sculpture rests on a richly carved lotus pedestal, while the aureole and garments feature extensive flame, scrolling, and ornamental carvings.
