Chenrezig 24K Gold Gilded Tibetan Sculpture Embodied in Serene Radiance

Handcrafted in Nepal, this Chenrezig 24K Gold Gilded Tibetan Sculpture measures 5.7”/14.5cm in height, with a 4.3”/11cm base, and weighs 0.54 kg. The sculpture is formed from a copper body, carefully modeled to define the seated figure, lotus pedestal, crown, jewelry, garments, and ornamental details. The surface is finished with 24K gold gilding, covering the figure, pedestal, ornaments, and finely modeled decorative elements with a radiant golden appearance. Acrylic painting is applied to selected details including the black hair, eyebrows, eyes, lips, and other facial features, creating definition and contrast against the gilded surface. The copper body provides the sculptural foundation, while the gold gilding and acrylic painting highlight the intricate modeling and traditional Himalayan craftsmanship of the statue.

Chenrezig, the Bodhisattva of Compassion, is depicted in his peaceful four-armed form, seated upon a lotus pedestal with a calm and compassionate expression. His two principal hands are joined at the heart in Anjali Mudra, expressing devotion and compassion, while the upper right hand holds a mala, symbolizing the continuous practice of compassion, and the upper left hand holds a lotus, representing purity. He wears an elaborate crown, earrings, necklaces, armlets, bracelets, and other ornaments characteristic of his bodhisattva form. A small image of Amitabha Buddha appears within his crown, identifying his spiritual lineage. His seated lotus posture, four arms, peaceful expression, mala, lotus, and Amitabha Buddha together define the traditional iconographic form of Chenrezig.

Chenrezig, also known as Avalokiteshvara, is the revered bodhisattva who embodies the compassion of all buddhas. According to tradition, Chenrezig vows to forego personal liberation until all sentient beings are freed from suffering, offering guidance through boundless empathy and wisdom. Meditating upon this deity encourages the practitioner to awaken their own heart of universal love and altruistic service.
