Chenrezig: The Embodiment of Universal Compassion

This Chenrezig Great Compassion Buddhist Sculpture stands at 5.7”/14.5cm in height and 3.9”/10cm at the base, weighing 1.04 kg. It is handcrafted from an oxidized copper body with carefully applied acrylic painting, giving the sculpture a distinctive darkened finish that emphasizes the depth of its carved details. The figure is richly adorned with an elaborate crown, earrings, necklaces, armlets, bracelets, and finely patterned garments, while the surrounding lotus stems and floral elements create an elegant frame around the deity. The compact sculpture showcases carefully rendered facial features, ornaments, and seated posture, making it a meaningful addition to a Buddhist altar, meditation space, Dharma center, or sacred collection.

This sacred depiction portrays Chenrezig, also known as Avalokiteshvara, the Bodhisattva of Great Compassion, in his traditional four-armed form. The principal pair of hands are joined before the heart in the anjali mudra, symbolizing compassion and the aspiration to benefit all sentient beings. His other right hand holds a mala, representing the continuous practice of compassion and recitation, while the other left hand holds a lotus, symbolizing purity and the unfolding of enlightened wisdom. He is seated peacefully in the full lotus posture, with a serene expression that reflects loving-kindness and compassionate awareness. His elaborate crown, celestial ornaments, flowing garments, and lotus flowers emphasize his bodhisattva form, while the four arms represent the expansive activity of compassion reaching in all directions. Together, these elements express Chenrezig’s commitment to relieving suffering and guiding beings toward wisdom and liberation.

Chenrezig, known in Sanskrit as Avalokiteshvara, is one of the most widely revered Bodhisattvas in Mahayana Buddhism, particularly in Tibet, where he is considered the patron deity. He is believed to embody the compassion of all Buddhas, tirelessly working to relieve the suffering of sentient beings. His mantra, Om Mani Padme Hum, is a powerful invocation of his benevolent energy.
