Chenrezig, also known as Avalokiteshvara in Sanskrit, is one of the most revered bodhisattvas in Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhism. He embodies the infinite compassion (karuṇā) of all Buddhas and is believed to hear the cries of sentient beings, responding swiftly to help relieve their suffering. Often depicted with multiple arms and eyes, Chenrezig symbolizes the all-encompassing nature of compassion and the bodhisattva’s vow to aid all beings until they attain enlightenment. He is widely worshipped across Tibetan, East Asian, and other Mahayana Buddhist traditions and plays a central role in spiritual practice as a source of mercy, protection, and transformation.
