Handmade Compassionate Guru Norla Statue | Tibetan Buddhist Sculpture
This Compassionate Guru Norla, another form of Guru Rinpoche, stands at 16.7”/42.5cm in height and 10”/25.5cm at the base, weighing 6.22 kg. This statue is made of copper, covered with a triple layer of 24K gold gilding, and carved with deeply engraved carvings that produce a magnificent 3D-like effect. This sculpture, handcrafted by expert Nepalese artisans, elegantly symbolizes Himalayan Buddhism's sacred traditions, making it an appropriate addition to altars, meditation places, or sacred collections.
Guru Norla is depicted in a majestic regal posture (lalitāsana), seated with one leg folded and the other resting, symbolizing ease and readiness to engage in the world. Resting across his shoulders is the khaṭvāṅga trident, a tantric staff representing the union of wisdom and compassion, as well as the inseparability of bliss and emptiness (śūnyatā). He wears a feather and a lotus hat, symbolizing spiritual authority and purity. The feather often represents the sky or boundless awareness, while the lotus stands for spiritual awakening and freedom from the stains of samsara. In his right hand, he holds a conch, an ancient symbol used in Buddhist rituals to proclaim the teachings, signifying the spreading of Dharma. In his left hand, he has the "Nehu-la spitting jewel," a mythical gem believed to grant wishes and radiate abundance, symbolizing generosity and the fulfillment of spiritual aspirations. The mongoose spitting jewel, in particular, signifies wealth, enhancing his association with prosperity. His form is adorned with rich monastic robes and elaborate ornaments, combining the humility of a renunciant with the majesty of an enlightened being who has mastered both worldly and spiritual realms.

Guru Norla is a wealth deity and a manifestation of Guru Padmasambhava (Guru Rinpoche) in Tibetan Buddhism, embodying the aspects of prosperity, abundance, and spiritual protection. He is regarded as the “Lama of All Dzambhalas,” representing the combined qualities of all wealth deities and presiding over a retinue of gods and goddesses of prosperity. Guru Norla grants the “siddhi of holding the sky treasury,” symbolizing the power to bestow both material and spiritual wealth to practitioners.
