Shakyamuni Buddha, also known as Gautama Buddha or Siddhartha Gautama, is the historical founder of Buddhism. Born as a prince in ancient India (around the 5th–6th century BCE), he renounced his royal life in search of truth and liberation from suffering. After years of meditation, he attained enlightenment under the Bodhi tree and became the "Awakened One." The teachings of Shakyamuni Buddha form the foundation of all Buddhist traditions, guiding followers on the path to wisdom, ethical conduct, and liberation.
