Crowned Shakyamuni Buddha, Himalayan Statue Art
This Himalayan statue art of crowned Shakyamuni buddha is handmade in copper and gilded in 24K gold by a Nepali artist in Kathmandu. His crown is magnificently crafted with bronze details on his black hair. Along with his precious jewels, made in bronze, the silk draped around his body is highly patterned. The right hand of Shakyamuni reaches down to touch the ground. This gesture symbolizes the moment when he summoned the earth to witness his ascension into the Buddhahood. A begging bowl supported by the left hand in the mudra is a gift from the Kings of the Four Directions (meditation gesture).
