Description

Four Heavenly Kings Statues of Protection: Guardians of Tranquility

Four Heavenly Kings Statues of Protection is a finely handcrafted Buddhist sculpture collection created by skilled Nepali artisans, measuring 16.7 inches (42.5cm) in height with a 15 inches (38cm) base and weighing 57.13 kg. Crafted from an oxidized copper body, this set showcases the exceptional craftsmanship and traditional techniques of Himalayan metalwork. The antique finish, powerful forms, and detailed carving make this collection suitable for Buddhist altars, temple spaces, meditation areas, or spiritual collections.

Each figure is seated in a meditative pose, commonly associated with calmness and spiritual focus. The seated position signifies stability and readiness for meditation or teaching. Four Dzambhala are carrying different attributes like a Sword, Treasure Vase, Mongoose, Vajra, triumph banner, Wheel Dharmachakra. So, the figures likely represent enlightened beings who have conquered negative forces and thus are able to bestow blessings of prosperity and spiritual growth upon devotees. The variety in their hand implements may indicate that different individuals may call upon a deity's certain manifestation (i.e., victory over material and spiritual obstacles, wisdom, and protection from negative forces) depending on their needs.

The Four Heavenly Kings, or Chatur Maharaj in Sanskrit, are a group of four Buddhist gods, each presiding over one of the cardinal directions. They serve as guardians of the dharma and protectors of the world from evil. Vaishravana (North) guards treasures, Virudhaka (South) increases growth, Dhritarashtra (East) upholds the nation, and Virupaksha (West) sees all evil. They are revered in various Buddhist traditions for their vows to protect the Buddha's teachings and His followers.
