This handmade Gautama Buddha statue, also known as the Awakened One, stands 11.2 inches (28.5 cm) tall and has a 9.8-inch (25 cm) diameter at the base, weighing 3.417 kg. Made from copper, this sculpture is decorated with gemstones and handcrafted by skilled Nepalese artisans. It beautifully represents the sacred traditions of Himalayan Buddhism, making it a suitable addition to altars, meditation spaces, or holy collections.
The Buddha is depicted seated in the lotus position (padmasana), symbolizing meditation and spiritual awakening. The right hand touches the earth, a gesture known as bhumisparsha mudra, which represents the moment of enlightenment when the Buddha called the world to witness his victory over Mara. The left hand rests on the lap, palm upward, in the dhyana mudra gesture, signifying meditation and concentration. The Buddha is crowned with a cranial bump (usnisha), a symbol of his expanded wisdom, and a tiny tuft on the top of his head. He wears a necklace made of conch shells, symbolizing the spread of the Dharma. The robe is draped over the shoulders and falls in graceful folds, representing renunciation and inner discipline. The soles of the feet are depicted with delicate arches and petals, echoing the lotus throne and emphasizing the Buddha's purity and transcendence, even when seated in the mundane world.

Buddha Gautama, also known as Siddhartha Gautama, was a spiritual teacher and the founder of Buddhism who lived in the 5th to 6th century BCE. Born a prince in Lumbini (in present-day Nepal), he renounced his royal life in search of a solution to human suffering after witnessing old age, sickness, and death. Through deep meditation and self-discipline, he attained enlightenment (bodhi) under the Bodhi tree in Bodh Gaya. From then on, he became known as Shakyamuni Buddha, meaning "Sage of the Shakya Clan."
