Traditional Tibetan Gautam Buddha Teachings Practice Statue
The oxidized copper was used to sculpt this Gautam Buddha Teachings Practice Statue. Gautam Buddha is depicted seated on a moon disc lotus seat. His left hand is holding an alms bowl over his lap, representing the 49 grains of rice he received before enlightenment while meditating. He demonstrates his enlightenment by lightly touching the earth with his right hand. We carved intricate design patterns into the statue over several months, giving the Buddha Shakyamuni statue the highest degree of detail possible. This Buddha statue may be used for various Buddhist rituals and ceremonies at monasteries and for private pursuits like daily yoga and meditation.

Siddhartha Gautama was born as the crown prince of the mighty Shakya Kingdom and nurtured to be a king in line with his royal father's aspirations. He abandoned his palace life and gave up his magnificent robes and gold to uncover the reasons for this anguish and the methods to alleviate it. After nearly six years of study, self-deprivation, and severe concentration, he achieved his aim. He had attained enlightenment (a Buddha). He claimed to have then proceeded to a deer park in Sarnath (Benares), India, on the outskirts of Varanasi.
