Chenrezig, known in Sanskrit as Avalokiteśvara, is the Bodhisattva of Compassion revered across Mahāyāna and Vajrayāna Buddhism. He embodies boundless compassion (karuṇā) and responds to the cries of all beings caught in the cycles of suffering. In Tibetan tradition, Chenrezig is regarded as the spiritual protector of Tibet, with the Dalai Lama recognized as his human emanation. His presence symbolizes mercy, love, and the vow to liberate all sentient beings, making him one of the most universally honored figures in Buddhist practice.
