Description

Handcrafted Green Tara Copper Sculpture | Divine Mother of Courage and Protection

This Handcrafted Green Tara Copper Sculpture measures 12.0”/30.5cm in height with an 8.6”/22cm base and weighs 3.06 kg. Handcrafted in Nepal from a copper body, the sculpture is enriched with gold and acrylic painting, silver-plated accents, and carefully placed gemstones that add contrast, color, and refined decorative depth to the surface. The balanced proportions, precise metalwork, and meticulous hand-finishing reflect the skill of Nepalese artisans and the enduring traditions of Himalayan Buddhist craftsmanship. Spiritually, the figure is associated with compassion, protection, swift assistance, courage, and the removal of obstacles.

This graceful manifestation embodies swift compassion, protection, fearlessness, and enlightened activity. Seated in the posture of royal ease (lalitasana) upon a lotus throne, the figure keeps the left leg folded in meditation while the right leg extends forward, symbolizing both inner realization and readiness to respond to beings in need. The right hand extends downward in Varada Mudra, expressing generosity, compassion, and the granting of blessings, while the left hand is raised near the heart in a protective gesture and holds the stem of an utpala lotus blooming beside the shoulder. Her green complexion represents active enlightened energy, while the peaceful expression and third eye signify profound awareness and wisdom. An elaborate jeweled crown, earrings, layered necklaces, armlets, bracelets, waist ornaments, anklets, celestial garments, and flowing scarves emphasize her bodhisattva form, while the lotus throne symbolizes purity and awakening. Together, the graceful posture, hand gestures, utpala flowers, ornaments, and serene expression represent the compassionate power to overcome fear, remove obstacles, and guide beings toward liberation.

Her practice was transmitted from India into Tibet, where she became central to prayer, meditation, and devotional traditions across several Buddhist schools. Spiritually, she is associated with active compassion, courage, protection from fear, swift assistance, and the removal of obstacles on the path toward liberation.
