Handcrafted Green Tara Sculpture | Sacred Embodiment of Fearlessness and Swift Protection

This Handcrafted Green Tara Sculpture measures 18.1”/46cm in height with a 12.5”/32cm base and weighs 9.47 kg. Handcrafted in Nepal from a copper body, the sculpture is finished with 24K gold gilding, detailed acrylic painting, and carefully placed gemstones that add luminosity, color, and refined decorative depth to the surface. Its substantial proportions, precise metalwork, and meticulous hand-finishing reflect the skill of Nepalese artisans and the enduring traditions of Himalayan Buddhist craftsmanship. Spiritually, the figure is associated with compassion, protection, swift assistance, courage, and the removal of obstacles, making this piece meaningful for Buddhist altars, meditation spaces, Dharma centers, monasteries, or sacred collections.

This Green Tara is depicted in her peaceful youthful form, seated in lalitasana, the posture of royal ease, upon a lotus throne. Her left leg is drawn inward while her right leg extends gracefully forward, expressing readiness to respond to sentient beings. Her serene face, gently lowered eyes, and compassionate expression convey tranquility and awakened awareness. Her right hand extends downward in varada mudra, the gesture of generosity and granting blessings, while her left hand is raised near the heart in the gesture of refuge or instruction, holding the stem of an utpala lotus blossoming beside her shoulder. She is adorned with a five-jeweled crown, earrings, layered necklaces, armlets, bracelets, waist ornaments, and flowing silk garments. The lotus throne symbolizes purity and liberation, while the graceful posture, sacred mudras, lotus attribute, peaceful expression, and Bodhisattva ornaments together express the distinctive iconography of Green Tara.

Green Tara originates in Indian Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhist traditions and later became one of the most widely revered female figures in Tibetan and Himalayan Buddhism. She is associated with active compassion, swift assistance, protection from fear, and the removal of obstacles. Her practice was transmitted from India into Tibet, where she became central to devotional and meditation traditions across several Buddhist schools. Spiritually, she represents compassionate action in immediate response to suffering and is often invoked for courage, protection, and support during difficult circumstances.
