Description

Mother of All Buddhas Green Tara Statue | A Sacred Vision of Peace and Liberation

Mother of All Buddhas Green Tara Statue measures 16.5”/42cm in height with an 11.8”/30cm base and weighs 7.83 kg. Handcrafted in Nepal from an oxidized copper body, the sculpture carries a deep, naturally darkened finish that accentuates the contours and hand-worked details of the surface, while carefully set gemstones add refined decorative contrast. The combination of traditional copper craftsmanship, controlled oxidation, and gemstone embellishment reflects the skill of Nepalese artisans and the enduring character of Himalayan Buddhist metalwork. Spiritually, Green Tara is revered as a compassionate and swift protector associated with removing obstacles, relieving fear, and offering aid to sentient beings, giving this sculpture meaningful significance for Buddhist altars, meditation spaces, Dharma centers, monasteries, or sacred collections.

This Green Tara is depicted seated in a graceful posture on a lotus pedestal, with her right hand extended downward in the gesture of generosity and her left hand raised in a protective gesture. She holds lotus flowers rising beside her shoulders, while her serene face features gently lowered eyes, a small urna, and carefully styled hair beneath an elaborate jeweled crown. Her body is adorned with detailed earrings, necklaces, armlets, bracelets, waist ornaments, and finely patterned garments. The lotus petals, floral stems, crown, jewelry, flowing scarf elements, and pedestal are intricately carved, with small gemstone details enhancing the surface. The carefully engraved patterns and refined sculptural work demonstrate traditional Himalayan craftsmanship and give the oxidized copper sculpture a richly detailed appearance.

Green Tara occupies a central role in Vajrayana Buddhism as the personification of active compassion and the feminine aspect of the Buddha. Tradition holds that she was born from the compassionate tears of Avalokiteshvara, committing herself to assist all beings in transcending the cycle of suffering. As a protector from the eight internal and external obscurations, she represents the wind element, moving with effortless speed to provide refuge and wisdom to all who invoke her sacred presence.
