Description

Green Tara Oxidized Statue of Protection | Embodiment of Swift Compassion

Gracefully proportioned and enriched with a traditional aged finish, this sacred sculpture measures 6.7”/17 cm in height with a 4.3”/11 cm base and weighs 0.84 kg. Handcrafted in Nepal from a finely sculpted copper body, its surface has been carefully oxidized to create deep tonal contrasts that emphasize the precise contours and engraved details. The darkened patina lends the piece a dignified antique character while allowing subtle traces of warm copper to emerge naturally throughout the composition. Compact yet substantial, the sculpture reflects the patience and accomplished metalworking of Nepalese artisans, making it a meaningful representation of swift compassion and protection for a personal altar, meditation space, or curated Himalayan Buddhist art collection.

Green Tara, revered as the Mother of Liberation, represents active compassion, swift protection, fearlessness, and enlightened wisdom. Her graceful form reflects the balance between peaceful meditation and compassionate action, expressing her readiness to respond to the needs of sentient beings. She is depicted seated in the Lalitasana (royal ease posture) upon a lotus pedestal, with her left leg folded inward, symbolizing meditative stability, and her right leg extended downward, showing her readiness to rise and offer assistance. The right hand rests in the Varada Mudra, representing generosity, blessings, and compassionate giving, while the left hand holds the stem of an utpala lotus near her heart, symbolizing purity, wisdom, and spiritual awakening. Her serene expression, jeweled crown, and celestial ornaments reflect the perfected qualities of a Bodhisattva, inspiring practitioners to cultivate compassion, courage, and the wisdom to overcome fear and obstacles on the path toward liberation.
