This Handcrafted Green Tara Sculpture | Sacred Mother of Liberation and Enlightened Action measures 20.2”/51.5cm in height with a 14.1”/36cm base and weighs 14.53 kg. Handcrafted in Nepal from a copper body, the sculpture is finished with 24K gold gilding, detailed acrylic painting, and carefully placed gemstones that add luminosity, color, and refined decorative depth to the surface. Its substantial proportions, precise metalwork, and meticulous hand-finishing reflect the skill of Nepalese artisans and the enduring traditions of Himalayan Buddhist craftsmanship. Spiritually, the figure is associated with compassion, protection, swift assistance, liberation from fear, and enlightened action, making this piece meaningful for Buddhist altars, meditation spaces, Dharma centers, monasteries, or sacred collections.
This Green Tara is depicted in her peaceful two-armed form, seated in lalitasana, the posture of royal ease, upon a richly carved double-lotus base. Her left leg is drawn upward while her right leg extends forward, symbolizing her readiness to rise and respond to beings in need. She has one serene face with two gently lowered eyes and a compassionate expression, conveying tranquility and awakened awareness. Her right hand extends downward over the knee in varada mudra, the gesture of generosity, compassion, and granting blessings, while her left hand is raised near the heart in a protective and instructive gesture, with the stem of an utpala lotus rising beside her shoulder. The blossoming lotus flowers symbolize purity and the unfolding of enlightened compassion. She wears an elaborate five-jeweled crown representing the Five Buddha Families and Five Wisdoms, along with large earrings, layered necklaces, chest ornaments, armlets, bracelets, waist ornaments, and richly patterned silk garments. Flowing scarves extend gracefully around her arms and sides, adding movement to the peaceful form. Her green body represents active compassionate energy, while the elaborate jewelry and youthful appearance reflect her enlightened Bodhisattva nature. The double-lotus throne features individually defined petals, ornamental borders, and vibrant red, turquoise, green, blue, and gold details, symbolizing purity, liberation, and spiritual awakening. The finely modeled face, hands, fingers, jewelry, lotus stems, garments, scarves, and throne demonstrate careful sculptural craftsmanship, with intricate carving and detailed ornamental work throughout the sacred figure.

Green Tara is revered in Tibetan Buddhism as the mother of liberation and the embodiment of active, fearless compassion. Legend holds that she emerged from a tear of compassion shed by Chenrezig, vowing to remain in female form to assist all sentient beings until suffering ceases. Her practice focuses on overcoming fear, removing obstacles, and granting swift protection in times of distress.
