Description

Embodying Active Compassion with the Green Tara Tibetan Buddhist Figurine

Seated gracefully upon her double-lotus throne, the Green Tara Tibetan Buddhist figurine offers a beautiful doorway to swift protection and immediate aid for all beings. Standing 32cm high, this radiant copper sculpture brings a gentle, maternal presence into any spiritual home. Hand-gilded in glowing 24K gold, the figurine acts as a powerful focus for daily meditation and heartfelt devotion.

Green Tara is iconographically depicted as a swift and compassionate female bodhisattva embodying enlightened activity and fearless protection. She is most often shown seated in a relaxed royal ease posture (lalitasana), with one leg extended forward symbolizing her readiness to step down into the world and respond instantly to the suffering of beings. Her right hand is extended in the gesture of supreme generosity (varada mudra), while her left hand holds the stem of a blue utpala lotus that blossoms beside her shoulder, representing purity and spiritual awakening. Adorned with jeweled ornaments and a five-jeweled crown, she expresses the sambhogakaya aspect of enlightened energy. Her youthful, serene expression and slightly dynamic posture emphasize her role as the “mother of liberation,” swiftly removing fears, obstacles, and dangers. In some traditions, she is surrounded by auras of light or depicted with multiple forms, highlighting her active, ever-responsive compassion.

Green Tara is revered in Vajrayana Buddhism as the mother of liberation and the consort of Amoghasiddhi. Emerging from the tears of Avalokiteshvara, she vowed to guide practitioners through the eight inner and outer fears. Her practice cultivates swift wisdom, obstacles clearance, and the ultimate realization of emptiness.

An heirloom of Himalayan artistry honoring wisdom and serenity.
