Embodying Compassion and Swift Protection: The Green Tara Tibetan Buddhist Sculpture

This Green Tara Tibetan Buddhist sculpture measures 14.7"/37.5cm in height and 9.8"/25cm at the base, weighing 6.62 kg. Handcrafted from a copper body, the sculpture is richly finished with gold and acrylic painting and embellished with gemstones. Fine traditional craftsmanship can be seen throughout the elaborate five-jewel crown, earrings, layered necklaces, bracelets, armlets, flowing scarves, patterned garments, and ornate lotus pedestal. Carefully carved ornamental details and precisely painted accents add depth to the sculpture, while the gemstone decorations enhance the intricate jewelry and sacred attributes.

This statue features Green Tara seated gracefully upon a lotus throne in the posture of royal ease, with her right leg extended forward and her left leg drawn inward. Her right hand is lowered in the gesture of generosity, while her left hand is raised near the heart in a gesture associated with granting refuge and protection. Utpala lotus flowers rise beside her shoulders, with one blossom opening above and another shown in a more developed form, symbolizing purity and the unfolding of enlightened activity. Her serene expression, slightly inclined head, graceful posture, elaborate crown, and bodhisattva ornaments convey compassionate presence and readiness to respond to beings in need. The green complexion is traditionally associated with active compassion and swift enlightened action.
