In the figure, the Precious Guru is depicted regally seated on a moon disc lotus seat with his right hand extending forward. He holds a vajra, a ritual item, in his right hand and a skull cup in his left that is filled with an elixir of immortality. He also holds a trident in the arc of his right hand.

Guru Rinpoche was instrumental in bringing Buddhism to Tibet. He translated several Buddhist texts into Tibetan with the help of 25 disciples and 108 translators. The project took a long time, but his efforts earned him the title "Vajrayana Buddha." He disproved the public's negative perception of tantra.
