Standing at 24.4 inches, this substantial figure, crafted from a robust copper body and meticulously 24K gold gilded, radiates a profound, tranquil presence. Its copper core is brought to life through intricate repoussé and chasing, revealing delicate robes and serene facial features.
Guru Rinpoche, or Padmasambhava, is depicted in a regal and meditative posture. He holds a Vajra (symbolising power and compassion) in his right hand and holds a skull-cup containing a vase filled with the nectar of longevity and wisdom in his left hand. The khatvanga, a trident ornamented with symbolic components reflecting his tantric attainment and the union of wisdom and compassion, rests on his left shoulder. This portrayal highlights his role as a protector, teacher, and enlightened being in Vajrayana Buddhism.
