Description

Hand-Carved Guru Rinpoche Oxidized Sculpture for Profound Serenity

Rich in character and refined through meticulous hand-finishing, this Hand-Carved Guru Rinpoche Oxidized Sculpture measures 14.17”/36 cm in height with a 9.25”/23.5 cm base and weighs 4.56 kg. Handcrafted in Nepal from a carefully sculpted copper body, the artwork is enhanced through a traditional oxidation process that creates deep tonal variation across its surface. The darkened finish naturally emphasizes the intricate engravings, layered contours, and precise decorative details while preserving the warm character of the copper beneath. Its balanced proportions and substantial construction reflect the patience, accuracy, and traditional metalworking expertise of Nepalese artisans, resulting in a dignified sacred artwork suitable for a meditation space, private altar, monastery, or distinguished Himalayan art collection.

Revered as the “Second Buddha” of Tibetan Buddhism, this sacred form represents enlightened wisdom, compassion, spiritual power, and the transformative energy of Vajrayana practice. Seated in the royal ease posture (Lalitasana), the figure expresses confidence, realization, and fearless enlightened activity. The right hand holds the vajra (dorje), symbolizing indestructible wisdom and skillful means, while the left hand holds the skull cup (kapala), representing the transformation of ordinary experiences into enlightened awareness. The khatvanga staff resting against the shoulder signifies tantric mastery and the union of wisdom and method. The lotus hat, flowing robes, and sacred ornaments further reflect spiritual accomplishment, inspiring practitioners toward devotion, purification, and inner transformation.
