Ekajati is a wrathful female deity in Vajrayana Buddhism, revered as a powerful dakinī and yidam in some lineages. She is considered an emanation of Guhyasamaja Akshobyavajra or Guhyasamaja himself, and is primarily known in the Nyingma, Drikung Kagyu, and Sakya traditions. Ekajati is associated with the practice of Guhyasamaja Tantra, where she plays a crucial role as a protector and obstacle remover. Her main qualities include her fierce appearance, symbolizing the power to overcome negativity and obstacles on the spiritual path. She is often depicted with blue skin, holding a skull cup and a curved knife, and trampling on subdued beings, representing the subjugation of ignorance and ego. Ekajati is invoked in Vajrayana rituals to protect the practitioner and ensure the success of spiritual practices, particularly those related to esoteric tantra.
