This sacred depiction portrays Amitabha Buddha, the Buddha of Infinite Light, who is particularly revered in Mahayana Buddhism as the Buddha of Sukhavati, the Pure Land. He is traditionally shown seated in vajra posture with both hands resting in the dhyana mudra at his lap, holding an alms bowl that symbolizes the nectar of wisdom and the compassionate nourishment of the Dharma. His peaceful expression and meditative posture convey profound concentration, compassion, and inner stillness. The simple monastic robes represent spiritual discipline, while the ushnisha signifies awakened wisdom and the urna reflects elevated spiritual vision. The lotus pedestal symbolizes purity and the emergence of enlightened awareness beyond worldly conditions. His association with Sukhavati represents the aspiration to be reborn in a pure realm where favorable conditions support the practice of Dharma and progress toward awakening.
