Gautama Buddha, also known as The Buddha, was a spiritual teacher and the founder of the religion of Buddhism, born as Siddhartha Gautama in ancient Nepal. Renouncing his royal life in search of truth, he attained enlightenment under the Bodhi tree and shared the path to liberation from suffering. Central to his teachings are the Four Noble Truths: acknowledging suffering, understanding its origin, realizing its cessation, and following the Noble Eightfold Path to bring about its cessation. This path includes right view, intention, speech, action, livelihood, effort, mindfulness, and concentration—a guide to ethical conduct, mental discipline, and wise action that leads to the end of suffering and ultimate freedom.
