Description

Handmade Golden Statue of Guru Set | Tibetan Buddhism Deity

The "Lotus-Born," Padmasambhava, is revered for both his extraordinary life and his miraculous birth. In the eighth century, he traveled to Tibet and established Buddhism despite immense hardship. Legendary are his teachings, especially on Dzogchen and Mahamudra, and his conversion of the Tibetan terrain into a hallowed area for practice. The summons to spiritual awakening and freedom found in Guru Rinpoche's mantra, "Om Ah Hum Vajra Guru Padma Siddhi Hum," embodies his profound influence.

Padmasambhava Rinpoche, Guru Rinpoche
Guru Rinpoche, also known as Padmasambhava, played a crucial role in the dissemination of Vajrayana Buddhism in Tibet. He was invited to Tibet in the 8th century to help establish Buddhism and conquer the antagonistic forces opposing its spread. He is often referred to as the "Second Buddha." Guru Rinpoche's teachings and approaches, particularly those relating to Tantra, have remained central to many Tibetan Buddhist practices. He is frequently shown holding a vajra (a tantric ritual instrument) and a kapala (a skull cup), both of which represent his vast insight and the fleeting essence of life.

Trisong Detsen, King
King Trisong Detsen is regarded as one of Tibet's Dharma Kings. During his reign in the eighth century, he played a pivotal role in the establishment and dissemination of Buddhism in Tibet. Many prominent Buddhist scholars and teachers, including Guru Rinpoche and Santaraksita, were invited to Tibet by the king, establishing the kingdom as a significant center of Buddhist learning, practice, and culture. Samye Monastery, Tibet's first Buddhist monastery, was built under his sponsorship.

Santaraksita
Santaraksita, a brilliant Indian scholar and monk, played a crucial role in establishing the philosophical foundations of Buddhism in Tibet. He was invited by King Trisong Detsen to blend Indian monastic discipline with the Tibetan cultural context, resulting in the creation of a unique Tibetan Buddhist monastic order. His teachings merged the Madhyamaka (Middle Way) philosophy and the Yogacara practice, both of which greatly influenced Tibetan Buddhist thought. He played a crucial role in the construction of the Samye Monastery and the ordination of the first Tibetan monks.
