Description
Handmade Green Tara Sacred Statue | The Embodiment of Compassion and Freedom from Suffering
This Handmade Green Tara Sacred Statue measures 10.04”/25.5cm in height with a 6.69”/17cm base and weighs 2.13 kg. Handcrafted in Nepal from an oxidized copper body, the sculpture features a deep, naturally darkened finish that enhances the contours and finely worked details, while acrylic painting adds definition and carefully placed gemstones provide subtle decorative contrast. The combination of traditional metalwork, controlled oxidation, painted accents, and gemstone embellishment reflects the skill of Nepalese artisans and the enduring traditions of Himalayan Buddhist craftsmanship. Spiritually, the figure is associated with compassion, protection, swift assistance, courage, and the removal of obstacles, making this piece meaningful for Buddhist altars, meditation spaces, Dharma centers, or sacred collections.
This Green Tara is depicted as a peaceful sixteen-year-old youth with one serene face and two eyes, expressing her compassionate and approachable nature. She is seated in lalitasana, the posture of royal ease, upon a lotus throne and moon disc, with her left leg drawn upward and her right leg extended forward, symbolizing her readiness to rise and assist beings. Her right hand rests near the knee in varada mudra, the gesture of supreme generosity and boon-granting, with the palm facing outward. Her left hand is raised at the heart in the gesture of refuge or instruction, holding the stem of an utpala, or blue night lotus, which blossoms beside her shoulder. She wears a five-jeweled crown representing the Five Buddha Families and their Five Wisdoms, along with fine silk heavenly garments and traditional Bodhisattva ornaments, including earrings, necklaces, armlets, bracelets, and other jeweled adornments. Her youthful appearance, relaxed posture, lotus, mudras, crown, silk garments, and Bodhisattva ornaments together form the distinctive iconography of her.
