This handmade statue of Future Buddha Maitreya stands at 23.2”/59cm in height and 15”/38cm at the base. The statue is composed of a copper body with gemstones and 24K gold gilding. Maitreya Buddha is depicted seated in serene majesty, performing the Dharma Chakra Mudra with his principal hands, symbolizing the turning of the Wheel of Dharma (Dharmachakra). His left hand holds a lotus stem that gracefully supports a Dharma Wheel, representing continuous teaching and wisdom. The right hand also has a lotus stem, upon which rests a Kalasha (vase), signifying abundance, blessings, and the nectar of immortality.
He wears a five-pointed crown, representing the Five Dhyani Buddhas, which embody the perfection of wisdom and compassion. Maitreya is seated upon a richly adorned throne featuring makara (mythical sea creatures) motifs along its sides, symbolizing protection and auspicious energy. At the top of the throne rests a cheppu (mythical guardian face), while a regal parasol rises at the apex, signifying spiritual sovereignty and protection. His feet gently touch the moon disc lotus base, completing the image of profound enlightenment and compassionate grace.
