This Handmade Vajrasattva Copper Statue stands at 15.7”/40cm in height and 12.2”/31cm at the base, weighing 5.77 kg. Crafted from copper, covered with a triple layer of 24K gold gilding, and carved with deeply engraved carvings that produce a magnificent 3D-like effect. This sculpture, adorned with hand-carved gemstones and crafted by expert Nepalese artisans, elegantly symbolizes the sacred traditions of Himalayan Buddhism, making it an appropriate addition to altars, meditation spaces, or holy collections.
The Tibetan Buddhist Dorje Sempa, also known as Vajrasattva, is a revered deity associated with purification and spiritual cleansing. Depicted in a serene and meditative posture, he holds a vajra (a symbol of thunderbolt) in his right hand, symbolizing wisdom and the ultimate truth. In his left hand, he holds a bell gracefully, representing the wisdom of emptiness and the union of compassion and insight. Vajrasattva is typically regarded as the second patriarch in the Shingon Buddhist lineage, preceded by Vairocana Buddha. According to Kukai's writings in Record of the Dharma Transmission, Nagarjuna encountered Vajrasatva in an amulet box in southern India, based on Amoghavajra's testimony. As recounted in the Mahavairocana Sutra, Vajrasatva inducted Nagarjuna into the abhiseka ceremony and entrusted him with the esoteric teachings he had gained from Vairocana Buddha. Kukai doesn't go into detail on Vajrasatva or his origins.
