Kshitigarbha Oxidized Copper Statue | Sacred Figurine of Protection and Spiritual Guidance

Kshitigarbha Oxidized Copper Statue measures 8.86”/22.5cm in height with a 6.89”/17.5cm base and weighs 1.69 kg. Handcrafted in Nepal by skilled artisans, it is made entirely from an oxidized copper body, giving the sculpture a distinctive darkened surface and refined traditional character. The oxidized finish emphasizes the sculpted contours, facial features, robes, and other fine details, while the carefully shaped form reflects the precision and craftsmanship of traditional Nepalese metalwork.

Kshitigarbha is a revered Mahayana Bodhisattva known for his compassionate vows to assist beings experiencing suffering, particularly those in difficult realms of existence. He is traditionally portrayed in the form of a monk, with a shaved head, calm expression, and simple monastic robes that emphasize humility, renunciation, and spiritual discipline. His right hand commonly holds a wish-fulfilling jewel, symbolizing the light of wisdom and the fulfillment of virtuous aspirations, while his left hand holds a khakkhara staff, representing his vow to guide and protect beings and his compassionate activity across difficult circumstances. His composed posture and gentle expression convey patience, steadfastness, and unwavering compassion. The simple monastic appearance distinguishes him from richly adorned Bodhisattva forms and emphasizes his dedication to helping beings overcome suffering and progress toward liberation.

Kshitigarbha Bodhisattva is a prominent figure in East Asian Mahayana Buddhism, revered for his great vow to not achieve Buddhahood until all hells are emptied. He is often depicted as a monk with a staff, which he uses to force open the gates of hell, and a wish-fulfilling jewel, which illuminates the darkness and grants wishes to suffering beings. He is considered the Bodhisattva of the Hells, guiding and comforting the deceased and beings in distressed states.
