Description
Embodiment of Future Compassion and Serene Wisdom
Handcrafted in Nepal, this Maitreya Buddha Handmade Sculpture measures 16.5”/42cm in height, with a 10.8”/27.5cm base, and weighs 5.54 kg. The sculpture is formed from a copper body, carefully modeled to create the seated figure, elaborate throne, lotus pedestal, ornamental frame, and finely detailed garments. The entire surface is finished with 24K gold gilding, highlighting the body, throne, crown, jewelry, pedestal, and intricate decorative patterns with a radiant golden appearance. Acrylic painting is applied to selected areas such as the hair, facial features, and fine decorative details, creating contrast and definition across the gilded surface. Gemstones are set into the crown, necklaces, earrings, and other ornaments, adding colorful accents to the sculpture. The combination of the copper body, 24K gold gilding, acrylic painting, and gemstone details gives the statue its richly ornamented Himalayan appearance.
Maitreya is depicted seated upon an elaborate throne with both feet placed forward on a lotus pedestal, a distinctive posture associated with his representation as the Buddha who is to come. His hands are held together at the center of his chest in a teaching gesture, while his calm facial expression reflects his peaceful and contemplative nature. He wears an elaborate jeweled crown, large earrings, necklaces, armlets, bracelets, and richly patterned garments, presenting him in his bodhisattva form. Two flowering stems rise beside his body within the ornamental throne structure, while the elaborate aureole surrounds his figure. Above his head is a decorative parasol, completing the ceremonial throne composition. The detailed throne, lotus pedestal, crown, ornaments, and composed seated posture together identify the figure as Maitreya, the Future Buddha associated with the continuation of the Buddha's teachings.
