Chenrezig, the embodiment of compassion in Tibetan Buddhism, is portrayed with four arms representing his boundless love and enlightened qualities. He holds a crystal mala in his upper right hand, symbolizing the ceaseless cycle of existence and the transformative power of prayer. His upper left hand holds a lotus flower, rising unstained from the mud, signifying purity and spiritual awakening beyond worldly attachments. His two main hands are joined in front of his heart in a gesture of deep reverence, symbolizing the unity of wisdom and compassionate action. Seated in a poised meditative posture, Chenrezig exudes calm and inner strength. A crown rests upon his head, representing his enlightened state and adorned with the Five Dhyani Buddhas, each embodying a specific wisdom that dispels delusion. Draped over his shoulders is a symbolic deerskin, signifying gentleness, non-violence, and his role as a compassionate protector of all beings. Further embellished with graceful ornaments and flowing garments, he radiates serenity and spiritual richness, offering boundless compassion and guidance to all sentient beings.

His name means "The One Who Looks with Unwavering Eye," reflecting his vow to hear all beings' cries and assist them on the path to liberation. Believed to manifest in countless forms to aid sentient beings, Chenrezig is primarily known for his thousand-armed form, symbolizing his boundless capacity to help. The mantra Om Mani Padme Hum is associated with him and is widely recited to cultivate compassion and loving-kindness.
