Description

Manjushri Bodhisattva of Knowledge Statue for Cultivating Wisdom

This Manjushri Bodhisattva of Knowledge Statue measures 13.38 inches (34 cm) in height, rests upon a 9.64-inch (24.5 cm) base, and weighs 3.93 kg. The sculpture is formed from a copper body, allowing the artisans to create the Bodhisattva’s poised seated posture, youthful expression, flowing garments, elaborate ornaments, and carefully layered lotus pedestal. The surface is enriched with 24K gold gilding, which emphasizes the sculpted contours and finely engraved details throughout the figure. Acrylic painting is applied to define the eyes, facial features, hair, garments, and ornamental patterns while preserving the clarity of the underlying metalwork. With its balanced dimensions and refined workmanship, the statue is well suited to a Buddhist altar, meditation room, Dharma center, study space, or collection of Himalayan sacred art.

Manjushri raises the flaming sword of transcendent wisdom in his right hand, representing the penetrating insight that cuts through ignorance, confusion, attachment, and mistaken views. His left hand forms a teaching gesture beside an utpala lotus supporting the Prajnaparamita Sutra, the scripture associated with the perfection of wisdom and the realization of emptiness. The lotus signifies that awakened knowledge can arise without being stained by worldly obscurations, while the scripture represents wisdom developed through study, reflection, and meditation. His youthful appearance expresses the ever-fresh and unobstructed nature of enlightened understanding. Seated steadily upon a lotus throne and adorned as a bodhisattva, he embodies the union of calm concentration, precise discernment, and compassionate knowledge used for the benefit of all beings.

Manjushri is one of the most significant Bodhisattvas in Mahayana Buddhism, revered as the embodiment of transcendent wisdom (Prajna). He is typically depicted as a youthful figure, signifying that wisdom is ever fresh and unaging. His attributes, the flaming sword and the scroll of the Prajnaparamita Sutra, symbolize his ability to cut through delusion and his mastery of Buddhist teachings, respectively.
