Manjushri Buddhist Statue | The Sacred Sword That Cuts Through Ignorance

This Manjushri statue measures 9.45”/24cm in height with a 7.68”/19.5cm base and weighs 1.98 kg. Handcrafted in Nepal from an oxidized copper body, the sculpture features a deep, naturally darkened finish that brings out the contours and finely worked details while giving the surface a rich, traditional character. The controlled oxidation and careful metalwork reflect the precision of Nepalese artisans and the enduring traditions of Himalayan Buddhist craftsmanship. Spiritually, the figure is associated with wisdom, clarity, insight, and the overcoming of ignorance, making this piece meaningful for Buddhist altars, meditation spaces, Dharma centers, or sacred collections.

This Manjushri is depicted as a youthful and peaceful Bodhisattva, traditionally appearing as a sixteen-year-old prince, seated gracefully upon a lotus throne. His serene face, gently lowered eyes, and composed expression represent the clarity and calmness of transcendent wisdom. In his right hand, he holds a flaming sword of wisdom, whose sharp blade cuts through ignorance, confusion, and mental obscurations. His left hand is raised near the heart in a teaching or wisdom gesture, supporting the stem of a lotus that blossoms beside his shoulder; the lotus traditionally bears the Prajnaparamita Sutra, representing the Perfection of Wisdom and realization of emptiness. He wears an elaborate five-jeweled crown, earrings, necklaces, armlets, bracelets, and other Bodhisattva ornaments, along with finely decorated silk garments. His flowing scarves and detailed jewelry emphasize his graceful appearance, while the lotus throne provides a sacred foundation. The sword, lotus, and scripture, youthful form, peaceful expression, royal ornaments, and lotus seat together form the distinctive iconography of Manjushri, the Bodhisattva of transcendent wisdom.
