Milarepa Dharma Master Sculpture: A Beacon of Ascetic Wisdom

This Milarepa Dharma Master Sculpture is a finely handcrafted representation of the revered Tibetan Buddhist master, created with careful attention to detail by skilled Nepali artisans. Measuring 11.2 inches (28.5 cm) in height with a 9.8-inch (25 cm) base and weighing 3.67 kg, the sculpture has a substantial yet well-balanced presence. It is crafted from a copper body, richly finished with 24K gold gilding, and enhanced with detailed acrylic painting. The smooth gilded surfaces, delicately painted facial features, and carefully rendered folds of the robe reflect the precision of traditional Himalayan metalwork. This sculpture is well suited for a Buddhist altar, meditation space, Dharma center, or carefully curated spiritual collection.

Milarepa is portrayed seated in a relaxed meditative posture upon a beautifully decorated pedestal, with one leg raised and the other folded beneath him. His right hand is lifted beside his ear in his recognizable listening gesture, while his left hand rests gently in his lap holding a bowl. His slender body is covered with a simple robe that falls naturally across his shoulder and torso, emphasizing the humble appearance associated with the great Dharma master. His calm expression, partially closed eyes, and composed posture create a deeply contemplative appearance, while the painted hair and facial details provide a refined contrast to the luminous gold finish.

Milarepa (c. 1052 – c. 1135 CE) is one of Tibet's most renowned yogis and poets, a central figure in the Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism. Born into wealth, he faced immense suffering after losing his family's fortune and committed harmful acts seeking revenge. Guided by his guru Marpa the Translator, Milarepa underwent intense ascetic practices and profound purification, eventually achieving enlightenment and becoming a revered teacher whose life story exemplifies redemption, perseverance, and the ultimate realization of Dharma through personal experience.
