Mitrugpa is shown wearing a magnificent five-pointed crown, each of which represents the wisdom of one of the Five Dhyani Buddhas. His right hand makes the bhūmisparśa mudrā (earth-touching gesture), asking the ground to witness his enlightenment, while his left hand holds an upright vajra, the symbol of unbreakable might.
