Namasangati Sacred Sculpture: An Embodiment of Primordial Wisdom

This Namasangati Sacred Sculpture is a finely crafted representation of one of the most intricate forms of Manjushri, created with meticulous attention to detail and traditional Himalayan craftsmanship. Measuring 9.4”/24cm in height with a 9.3”/23.5cm base and weighing 2.84 kg, the sculpture is formed from a copper body that has been carefully shaped to capture the deity’s twelve arms, serene expression, elaborate crown, ornaments, garments, and lotus pedestal. The entire surface is finished with 24K gold gilding, creating a luminous golden appearance that emphasizes the deeply worked patterns across the figure. Detailed acrylic painting is carefully applied to the blue hair, eyebrows, eyes, lips, and other fine facial elements, adding definition and contrast to the gilded surface. The extensive engraved ornamentation across the crown, jewelry, garments, arms, and lotus pedestal demonstrates the precision required to render this highly complex sacred form while maintaining clarity in every individual detail.

Namasangati is depicted with one peaceful face, twelve arms, and a crowned bodhisattva form, seated in the full vajra posture upon a lotus pedestal. His calm expression, urna, elongated earlobes, dark blue hair, and elaborate crown distinguish his sacred appearance, while the richly detailed jewelry and garments emphasize his bodhisattva form. The uppermost pair of hands is raised above his crown and joined in a gesture associated with supreme enlightenment. The principal pair of hands is held before his chest in a teaching gesture, while the next pair extends forward in the gesture of offering nectar. Another pair rests in his lap around the vessel of nectar, which is clearly visible at the center of the figure. On either side, one pair holds a sword and a sacred scripture supported on lotus stems, representing wisdom and the teachings of transcendent knowledge, while another pair holds the bow and arrow associated with Manjushri. His twelve arms are carefully arranged around the body in balanced pairs, creating the distinctive symmetrical composition of Namasangati. He is seated firmly in vajra posture upon the broad lotus base, whose layered petals and ornamental borders complete the composition. Together, the twelve arms, teaching and offering gestures, nectar vessel, sword, sacred scripture, bow, arrow, raised hands, crowned appearance, and meditative posture precisely define the Namasangati form represented in this sculpture.
