Namgyalma (Ushnishavijaya), one of the Three Long-Life Deities of Vajrayana Buddhism, embodies purification, longevity, protection, and the overcoming of obstacles to life and spiritual practice. She is traditionally depicted with three faces and eight arms, representing her vast enlightened activities and ability to perceive and respond to beings throughout the realms. Her central white face expresses peaceful wisdom, while her other faces symbolize different aspects of enlightened activity. Her hands hold sacred attributes including the double vajra (vishvavajra), long-life vase, bow and arrow, lotus, and other ritual implements, each representing purification, protection, and the granting of longevity and spiritual blessings. Often seated in a serene meditative posture upon a lotus throne, Namgyalma’s peaceful yet powerful presence reflects the purity of awakened awareness.
