Namgyalma Purification and Liberation Statue – A Beacon of Serenity and Spiritual Renewal
This Namgyalma Purification and Liberation Statue measures 10.43 inches (26.5 cm) in height, rests upon a 9.45-inch (24 cm) base, and weighs 4.01 kg. Expertly handcrafted by skilled Nepali artisans, the statue is sculpted from a substantial copper body and finished with radiant 24K gold gilding and carefully applied acrylic painting. The gilded surface brings warmth and brilliance to the intricate crown, jewelry, garments, and ritual implements, while the painted accents give greater definition to the deity’s many features. With its generous proportions, considerable weight, and finely balanced composition, this sculpture creates a dignified presence for a Buddhist altar, meditation space, shrine room, or collection of traditional Himalayan sacred art.
Namgyalma, also known as Ushnishavijaya, is depicted with three faces, each bearing three eyes, and eight arms arranged symmetrically around her peaceful central form. Her right hands hold a crossed vajra, a lotus supporting Amitabha Buddha, and an arrow, while another displays the gesture of supreme generosity. Her left hands carry a vajra lasso and bow, form the gesture of protection, and support a nectar-filled longevity vase in the gesture of meditative equipoise. She is adorned with an elaborate crown, celestial ornaments, flowing silk garments, and jeweled accessories while seated steadily in the vajra posture upon a lotus base. Revered for her association with purification, longevity, and liberation from adverse conditions, Namgyalma is represented here with a serene yet commanding presence that offers a meaningful focal point for contemplation and devotional practice.
